Speaking in Whistles

I was fascinated to discover that there is a language spoken in whistling, occurring only on La Gomera, one of the Canary Islands. Named Silbo, it is an adapted version of Spanish, and has only 4-6 different sounds depending on who you ask. Silbo is useful for communicating across rugged landscapes as it carries a lot farther than shouting!
